The men’s group at BVBC ministers to the heart of men who want to serve their Lord and King. We believe this can be accomplished in part, through the encouragement of men meeting together with other brothers on a regular basis.
We seek:

The pace of the world is accelerating and the ability for men to deal with work, family and their own personal relationship with God is more challenging than ever. While we believe the needs of men were established in the Garden of Eden, our enemy has adapted his tactics to keep us from realizing who we are in Christ.
Therefore we find that men are seeking:

What's said here, stays here!
In this era of temptations and conflicting priorities, now, more than ever, men need a place to develop their God-given roles as fathers, brothers, husbands...as men of faith.
A first place to start growing is by going to church and getting established in God's word.
The next place is to get plugged into a solid group of men who love their God and want to serve Him mightily. The men's group at BVBC is just the place for you.
We can help you grow as men in the following areas:

"How are you doing with the Lordship of Christ in your life?"
This was a question posed at our men's group the other night. Like most questions asked like this (you know, personal, thought provoking), it was met with blank stares. The question certainly got me thinking.
For me, the question of Jesus' lordship in my life was convicting. But, I believe that once a question stirs my mind, I don't want to let it go. I want to wrestle with it, let it churn up some emotions, convictions, even doubt. This question did that for me. Without realizing it, the Lord provided yet another indication today that the question remained, for me, unanswered.
I was reminded of the story of the "Rich Young Ruler" found in Mark 10:17-22. He had everything money could buy. So, he figured, eternal life was attained as one more commandment to follow. He probably thought, "I didn't commit adultery: check! I kept the Sabbath; check! Hmmmm... the only thing I don't have is the assurance of eternal life. I'll ask Rabbi Jesus!"
Instead of giving this young man the answer he was looking for, Jesus told him to sell his possessions, give it to the poor, and follow Him. With that challenge the man walked away sad and discouraged.
This story challenged me and made me think about Jesus Christ's lordship over my life.
Does Jesus want me to sell everything I have, give it to the poor (and BVBC, of course) and follow Him? Yes, He does! Then why don't I do it? Well, for one thing my wife and family would think I'd gone off the deep end. But I think this passage pierces my heart to a very sensitive part of my life.
Am I willing to cling to material possessions, earthly things rather than whole-heartedly follow after Jesus? Do I give up other things to follow Him? Yes! I now find it easier to give up things I've clung to in the past. Call it progress or sanctification, but the Lord is working in my life to establish a relationship with Him. I think the Lord is looking for a willing heart that takes action to follow after Him, not someone who walks away saddened and discouraged by the challenge.
