Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan's Purse.

Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ. The organization serves the Church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Operation Christmas child’s Mission: To demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Each year Operation Christmas Child delivers millions of shoe boxes that are filled with gifts and the good news of Jesus Christ to needy children. This effort cannot be accomplished without the tireless efforts of people like you.

Blossom Valley Bible Church will be a relay center during “National Collection Week”. This annual OCC event requires concerted efforts and coordination with other churches and ministries who have filled these shoe boxes. Operation Christmas Child (OCC) provides gift shoe boxes to millions of needy children and families throughout the world.

Thank You!

Operation Christmas Child surpassed 100 million shoe boxes collected since 1993. Evilyn Pinnow, a 12-year-old girl from Wisconsin, delivered the box representing the milestone to Brenda Valdez, a 5-year-old girl in the Dominican Republic. Because of everyone who packed shoeboxes in 2012, more than 9 million children will be blessed with a simple gift and the Good News of Jesus Christ.

One Hundred Million Reasons to Smile

In 1993, Samaritan’s Purse kicked off Operation Christmas Child in the United States with just 28,000 shoe box gifts. In 2012, Operation Christmas Child expects to collect its 100 MILLIONTH gift-filled shoe box—a milestone reached after 20 years of packing, collecting, transporting and hand-delivering these simple gifts to suffering children around the globe.

Operation Christmas Child, a project of international Christian relief and evangelism organization Samaritan’s Purse, is the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind. Kids are working hard to make Christmas a reality for more than 8 million children in 2012.

How does it work?

Kids, families, schools, churches and community groups pack empty shoe boxes with simple items most people take for granted, including toothpaste, toys and school supplies. The shoe boxes are then delivered to hurting children around the world using whatever means necessary—sea containers, trucks, trains, airplanes, boats, elephants, even dog sleds.

While Samaritan’s Purse works to meet critical spiritual and physical needs including providing clean water, health care and food, Operation Christmas Child addresses a need for which children are just as desperate—the need to have hope and feel loved. For many of these children, the shoe box will be the first gift they have ever received.

Anyone can participate in Operation Christmas Child right now. The project is a massive year-round effort. In addition to receiving shoe box gifts year-round at the headquarters in Boone, N.C., Samaritan’s Purse will be collecting gift-filled shoe boxes at more than 4,000 drop-off sites in all 50 states and Puerto Rico during National Collection Week, November 17-24, 2014. Step-by-step packing instructions are available at Samaritans Purse.

Operation Christmas Child is accomplished by the work of more than 140,000 volunteers in the United States, 500,000 worldwide, and tens of thousands of participating churches.
